How difficult was the training program to becoming a firefighter? In the beginning it was a challenge because I did not know much about firefighting. What was the most challenging portion of the training test? The most challenging portion had to be when I was in the fire academy, when I entered the academy I had already had previous training and knowledge from my job, but the most challenging part at first was probably knots. There are a lot of knots to tie and it can get confusing at times. Though I was able to overcome it and now I could tie it all blindfolded. What are your future plans in the program? To establish myself at a firehouse as full-time status and improve on my skills and training. What is your work schedule? It really varies. What is your salary? 24 hr shift- $130, Rap shift- $50 What perks do you get? I don’t really get a whole lot of perks. What do you enjoy most about your job? I get to do some awesome training, go into burning buildings, and work with a great group of people. Has your career path given you any experiences that have changed you perspective? Absolutely, as I have gotten more experience my perspectives on certain things have definitely changed.
