Inspiration

Transcript: What gave me the idea for Whodunit? The adventure time episode "The Creeps" inspired me a lot. Adventure Time is Amazing. So, that's everything that inspired me in designing this game. It is about a group of people who are trapped on an island and each is killed in an unusual way. Wouldn't the murderer kill the other people in the house to make sure they weren't found out? Or perhaps they would even frame somebody else to get away with it. I love mystery stories. I especially like locked room mysteries. My point is that Cluedo is unrealistic and has no plot, and yet it is a very successful game. So wouldn't a game that was more realistic and competitive be more fun and more successful? I always thought that the problem with Cluedo was that you could accuse yourself of being the murderer, this just seemed ridiculous. Wouldn't the killer know they were guilty? And wouldn't they lie to hide it? But the whole genre of Whodunit Detective Stories is what really inspired me. I actually forgot that this quest was called Whodunit until after I thought of a name for my game. It could cause copyright issues, but there are ways around it. The game Cluedo is probably the most obvious source of my inspiration. The book "I Know What You Did Last Wednesday" by Anthony Horowitz is large inspiration for my game. Another of my inspirations is the Whodunit quest from Oblivion's Dark Brotherhood questline. I liked how you could interact with other characters and convince them (even though you were standing over the body, holding a knife and dressed as an assassin) that you were not the murderer.
